He Quiets Me with His Love

The Lord your God in your midst, The mighty One, will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Have you ever had a day so chaotic it was beyond even your imagination? Every thing coming at you fast, your attention needed by everyone at home, and at work. Deadlines, meetings, kid practices, women’s ministry obligations, community commitments, meals, dishes, laundry, more than even the Proverbs 31 woman could handle. You ask yourself will this day ever come to an end. Dear Lord please give me strength to accomplish everything that is necessary to please You? How great it would be if this was the prayer we really prayed. The one actually lifted in your heart is probably more similar to Lord, don’t let me hurt or curse anybody. I am but one woman, one unappreciated woman. This prayer God did not hear for it is not His will that you hurt or curse anybody. The prayer God heard was the one you prayed amidst your women’s group or in your quiet time when you were not exhausted or the one a friend lifted for you in her morning prayer time; I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit - not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength. (Ephesians 3:15 the Message) with one loving deep breath somewhere in the midst you are able to quiet your soul and do every assignment God has given you. This is God quieting you with His love.

Have you ever worried over a situation, even after vowing you would give it to God and not take it back? Yet no matter how hard you tried you kept taking it back and worrying over its outcome. Just when you needed it most you heard from a friend in whom you were able to share and she gave you a word from the Lord and “before you knew it, a sense of God's wholeness prevailed, and everything begin coming together for good, you were settle down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4:7) This is God quieting you with His love.

Remember when you were going through something and just needed some comfort from God and you open the Holy Scriptures and found yourself right at the word you needed to sooth your soul. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105) This is God quieting you with His love.

God calls us to cast all our cares upon Him, we don’t have to suffer, we need only give it to the Lord, He anxiously waits for us to come to Him but even when we are slow in acting as we ought God comes to us; He is forever making a way for us. He knows our hearts, He knows what we stand in need of and He comes right when we need Him. Hagar learned this truth about God in the midst of misery and “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." (Genesis 16:13). She didn’t call upon God yet He came to her rescue. This was God quieting her with His love.

As we seek to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God let us remember God is able to do exceeding more than we ask and often don’t ask. It is difficult for some women to grasp God cares about all of our life not just the big things, not just the “spiritual” things. The truth is our entire life should be spiritual and lived for God, so why wouldn’t He care about every aspect. No situation, problem, circumstance, issue, or concern is too small for God. Being the woman god requires us to be means we submit our entire life to Him. Commit to taking everything to God, give it all to Him stop holding on to things that stress, worry and frazzle you. Why do you want to carry these heavy bags around when you have a God who desires to carry them for you? Commit to letting God be God in your life for this is abundant living, this is God supplying all your needs, this is God loving you beyond measure, my sister this is God pouring out his love into your hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given to you. (Romans 5:5, Paraphrased) When your days get out of control, when life appears too hard to bear, when the winds of trouble is raging, when peace seems to be afar off, and dark clouds arise look for God the One who sees you and desires to quiet you with His love.

Prayer
Most Holy One, we ask for your forgiveness when we fail to let you be God in our lives. Forgive us for our stubbornness to not submit all of our lives to you. Help us Dear Lord to stop holding on to problems, situations, circumstances, chaos, and days that scream for Your unfailing love. Loving God help us to allow You to be God in our everyday and Lord please direct our hearts into Your love which will quiet us in the midst of all we go through. In Jesus Name we humbly pray.

Deeper I Seek to Know You Lord

I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. Psalm 31:7

Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. Psalm 36:10

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me-- a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:8

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9

Absolutely beautiful post. Something I really needed today even though as I type, I hurriedly leave this comment. You spoke so many wonderful truths about our Father! You covered every basis of Who He is and what He wants for His children.

I can SOOOO agree with you about giving something to God and seemingly keep on taking it back. I try so hard to leave it at His Feet but I too am human and fail at that. I believe He does honor our attempts and desires to leave it at His Feet and in His great love He understands that we are human and we need Him to be able to completely leave our worries in His most capable Hands.

I do have a question. I wondered if there is a typo or if I'm reading a sentence of yours wrong. It is this one: "This prayer God did not hear for it is not His will that you hurt or curse anybody."

The Lord hears all our prayers and most definitely I believe He hears our pray for help to not hurt, curse, sin or dishonor Him. For some reason, I'm not following your thinking on this and would be curious to understand.

I will check back on your blog to see if you leave me a comment. Or you can email me: dierkesp@hotmail.com

Again very thorough post that covered so many wonderful truths of our most gracious and loving Father.
Blessings,
Paula

Paula I love teachable moments and I love your question. Thanks. I am going to answer here in case someone else has the same question.
In writing God didn’t hear this prayer my thoughts were more focused on the heart and in this prayer Lord, don’t let me hurt or curse anybody. I am but one woman, one unappreciated woman. The heart is angry and not being reflective of God. Therefore this prayer is not heard by Him, the prayer reflective of God is the one which follows that line and the one He will answer. Looking back I should have done a better job of proofing this one and making sure it line up with the word.
My brain and heart was not functioning together on this one. I should have worded this differently.
I am with you believing God hears all our prayers. He does hear the prayer where we utter don’t let me hurt anyone, for it is His will we not hurt, curse or dishonor Him. Thank you for pointing this out to me.
