Fan the Flame

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self discipline. 1Timothy 1:6a, 7

The Spirit of the Lord has given each us a gift or gifts. These gifts are to be used for the building up of God’s Kingdom. Some of us never take the time to discover our gifts; others of us know our gift but have not used it for Kingdom building. Sometime we let fear hold us back from walking in our gifts. Fear of others, fear of failure or fear we are not good enough or strong enough to carry out the assignment God has so graciously given to us. I want to remind you there is no failure in God. My guess is most who read this today will have 1 Timothy 1:7 memorized and use it often to help us overcome a fear. In all honesty I recently discovered 6a what I now label a treasured gem. Today I ask you to consider what gift has God given you which you have not yet fan into a flame but have left smoldering (to burn slowly and gently, usually with some smoke, but without a flame). Is today the day you begin taking steps to add some sparks to the fire, and daily add some kindling until you have a full fledge fire for Christ.

Prayer
Father God, most Holy One forgive us for gifts we have left to smolder. Forgive us for letting fear and doubts hinder us, forgive us for treating your gifts as unworthy of our all, stealing glory from your Holy Name. Because you are a loving God and desiring us to aid in the building of your Kingdom we ask for your help and strength as you lead us to fan the flame of the gifts you have so lovingly bestow in us for your good purpose. Help us Father to stir up the gifts until they are a raging fire brining honor and glory to Your Great Name. In the name of Jesus Amen.

Stir up the Gifts
God has not given us the spirit of fear (no no no no)
But the Lord has given us.... power.
Power and Love
His joy and peace
His happiness
He has given us a sound mind
Power and Love
His joy and peace
His happiness
He has given us a sound mind
Never should I be afraid

Stir up the gift
Lay your hands on me
Stir up the gift
Touch me Lord
Stir up the gift
Never should I be Afraid
Stir up the gift.

Amen Amen!!!
It seems the Lord has been speaking to us both about this scripture, My last post is about The Worry Tree and about how fear holds us back. Yes!! we need to fan the flame and allow the fresh winds to blow our way. I think the Lord is showing us confirmation as we are in one accord in what he is speaking into our spirit and our hearts. I always get so blessed when I come and visit you my sister. Continue to allow the holy spirit to use you in a mighty way and just know you are a blessing to me.

What a wonderful post, I have been dealing with this as well. Continually people in the church have been wanting me to do more, I have to keep saying no, I cannot do the work that the Lord wants me to do if I get myself so overwhelmed. This has taken me awhile to learn because I use to say yes to everything. I have to rest, I have to have peace, and time for him. I feel better too.
I have to allow the wind to blow through me. I don't want the fear to hold me back.
What a Blessing of this post, It's a Fresh reminder. Thank You
Sharon
