Having a Mary Spirit

A willing Spirit Chapter 7

Joanna Weaver gives so much to think about in this chapter. Following are the things which Spoke most to my Heart-- (bold-Joanna Weaver)

1- It’s amazing what God can do with a heart surrendered to Him; A heart that says yes in spite of the cost. A Mary heart linked with a Mary Spirit. I dearly want to say yes to the Lord when ever He calls me, sometimes surrender has been easy and other times it has been a struggle and I fought all the way. But the blessings I received outweighed every excuse and all the anxiety I took myself through. These experiences aid in not fighting so hard when God calls me today. Learning God won’t give me anything to do He won’t equip me for and in which He won’t be with me all the way. The result Faith

2- Adopting some of Mary’s qualities; seeking to develop a quiet, submissive Spirit willing to trust God-no matter the assignment.

3-So often when I’m nodding yes to God, too often my actions are saying no. This is more than just accepting assignments but in becoming Christ-like. Yes Lord make me more Christ-like, mold me, shape me and as God strives to do this very thing my actions say no I’m not ready, no I can’t do this instead of Yes Lord I step back and I’m letting You do Your good thing in me. Yes I need a spirit which say “yes in motion” this means my heart will start to follow my head. ‘She could not and I can not advance myself and advance the work of God- a great statement for me to adopt this one is a post it note to be pasted all around the house, in my bible etc. Here is where I embrace God’s plan and go along for the ride, accepting the ride may include pain, hardships and struggles but knowing the end will fulfill God’s plan.

4- When we can’t trace God’s hand, we must trust His heart. Sometimes we are sure God has called us to do something and we move than we become unsure because God didn’t do or respond as we thought this does not mean He didn’t give us the assignment, it may mean we are being tested, it may mean a number of others things we just need to trust God’s got it and us.

5- Most of all Mary exemplifies a heart of love that followed Christ to the cross and died to itself so that it might live with Him.

6- One yes at a time- Once Mary (the Mother of Jesus) said yes she kept on saying yes. Yes I’ll go to Bethlehem with my husband even though I’m very pregnant. Yes I will settle for a stable and Yes I’ll agree to all those grungy shepherds see my newborn, yes I’ll let my son leave home to be an itinerant preacher and yes I’ll be with Him no matter what—even at the foot of the cross. I’m sure you get the picture.
7- Saying Yes to the little things
Saying yes to inconvenience so someone else might be blessed.
Saying yes to a backseat role though we’re fully qualified to drive.
Saying yes to doing the unseen, the unnoticed, and the underappreciated.
Saying yes to overlooking faults and inconsiderate slights.
Saying yes to patient listening though there’s much to do and more to say,
Saying yes to chores others should rightfully do.
Saying yes when we rather say no.
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much. Luke 16:10

8-I want my life to be a Bethlehem. I want to be a portal through which Christ may come into the world. I want my heart to be a womb in which Jesus is not only birthed, but also a throne from which He rules and reigns.
How I desire to live this

Joanna asked us to read Isaiah 6:8 and ask if God was asking me to do something specific at this particular moment. I was to identify my next step and write out a prayer of consecration my life to God and His purposes. God has me in a season of focusing on my relationship with Him. This assignment led me back to the prayer in the first Chapter.

Lord Jesus, I give You my life.
I invite You to have Your way in me.
Take me and break me. Shake me and make me.
Fill me and spill me. Change me and rearrange me.
But whatever You do, Lord….don’t leave me the same.
Spirit of Wisdom and revelation, I welcome Your work.
Open my eyes so I can see…my ears so I can hear…
I choose truth over comfort, challenge over complacency.
Lord, make me forever Yours.
And most of all, make me like You.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

yes, yes...choosing truth over comfort. It's sometimes a very hard thing...
i have a quote on my website that I feel wraps up so much of the same...it's from Harry Potter and it's spoken by dumbledore.
My daughter is intrigued by those books so I like to talk with her about the dialogue in the movies and she does pull out the most meaningful lines.

enjoyed your words today!
