WFW-Obey

One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As He was praying, the heavens open, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said ”You are my dearly loved Son, and You bring me great joy. Luke 4: 21-22

Why was the Father pleased with Jesus, what joy did He bring?
Jesus was baptized at the beginning of His ministry, He had not yet performed any miracles, and He had not shown Himself God’s Son. His first act was baptism. Matthew records John’s reluctance to baptize Jesus, but Jesus tells him they must carry out all of God’s requirements. (Matthew 3:15). The Father is pleased with Jesus because right away He is obedient, Jesus starts His ministry in obedience.

This scripture commands me to ask myself do I bring great joy to the Lord or as King James states is the Lord well pleased with me.

Lord are You please with my obedience?
Lord are You please with my faith, my trust in You?
Lord are You please with my service?
Lord are You please with my fruit?
Lord are You please with my praise?
Lord are you please with my worship?
Lord do I bring You joy?
Lord am I carrying out all your requirements?

Sometimes we believe we are doing what God requires of us. But the question is are we really following God’s commands? Are we just doing pieces of what God desires while we mix in what we want? Worthy of note Luke tells us Jesus is praying when the Holy Spirit descends. Do we spend sufficient time in prayer checking in with God to ensure we are following the path He has set forth? Are we leading lives that lead God to saying this is my daughter.son in whom I am well please, for she/he brings me such great joy?

Very important questions. Well done.
I am wondering if you meant to leave the word please in all your questions and in the sentence underneath..It reads better as pleased as in the text above..unless you had a reason for writing it that way.
I am not being picky...just the old teacher in me sneaks out. You can delete this comment so that others need not see it.
Hugs in Him

This is well written WFW for sure and thoughts that I think about everyday... Like what would Jesus say, what would Jesus do, and so on, if we will think this way we will find we will follow his way.

You don't need to worry I understood what you wrote, and because of the revelation I got from reading it, I totally knew where you were going with this.

Praise God my sister and have a blessed day

Thank Goodness for God's grace because none of us can live up to His requirements. Jesus can and did for us. It's amazing what we have received because of Him...grace upon grace. Have a beautiful day...

Blessings Wilnette... It all starts with OBEDIENCE! Being baptized is a good place to start also! Thank you for sharing this lovely photo and scripture! Lord, are you pleased with my obedience? FINALLY! Lord, are you pleased with my faith, my trust in You? FINALLY...Lord, are you pleased with my service? With your willingness to serve but without Him, I can do nothing daily. Lor, are you pleased with my praise & my worship? CONSTANTLY!
Lord, do I bring You JOY? I try!
Lord, are you pleased with my fruit, my labor, or carrying out all your requirements? I really am working on it!!! Thank You Lord!
I sure hope so! Thanks God Chaser for helping me be accountable!!!
Enjoy a wonderful word filled day & thank you for your visit & teaching

Mmm...great questions. I would hope that my answers would be yes. But, I am afraid that I fall short, too often. I am so thankful for His grace that He loves me anyway. May I continue to strive to do His will and follow His leading.

Thank you for a great post!
