Christmas Love

God over 2000 years ago open His heart and poured out His love upon us. He sent His beloved Son to a town called Bethlehem. There the door was open for our salvation. There God made His love real, brought it to life. Here God showed us He was ready to move from just being the God of Israel to being the God of all people. In that stable long ago the shepherds witness love in it truest form and they praised God and begin the ministry of evangelism. One of the greatest ways we can keep Christ in Christmas is to give gifts of love. Love the unbeliever by given her seeds which our heavenly Father will grow. Give not only physical food to the hungry but satisfy their spiritual thirst by leading them to the spring which flows with living waters. As you seek to make this Christmas more than money remember the lonely, poor, depressed, sick, hurting soul just around the corner from you. Pray God will fill your heart with love that rains down from heaven and take that love and pour it out to someone who is empty and seeking. The greatest gift we can give to the Savior this Christmas is our heart, hands, feet, eyes and ears as we seek to spread the love of Christmas with more than just words but with action.

Scripture
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
Luke 1:15-20

Prayer
Father God we thank You for Your love. A love so great we cannot even fathom it. Lord we know in Jesus You gave us thy greatest gift. May we not take Your gift of love for granted. Help us not to get caught up in the world's celebration of Christmas but let us get caught up in You and help us to spread Your love, that believers will be drawn closer to You and unbelievers will seek You and the salvation You so graciously give through Christ Jesus. May we treasure Your love in our hearts. In Jesus Name we pray.

Reflection

Stop and consider if you have already gotten caught up in the world's celebration of Christmas.
What are you treasuring in your heart?
How are you being like the shepherds? Are you glorifying and praising God? Are you telling anyone about what God has done, what Christmas is really about? How are you telling it?

Great thoughts and great questions! It is so easy to get caught up in the worldliness of the season. But it is so important to be like Mary and treasure all these things in our heart. I pray that is the desire of my heart!

Thanks for sharing!
I hope you have a great week!
