Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Oh how we cry God I trust You. I lean not to my own understanding but I put my self in your hands. I know You O Lord will lead me in the right way. Yes our heart cry out these words with great belief, we know we can trust in the Lord for He has proven Himself over and over to us. We think over the times God has told us to go forth and we did step forth in fear, doubting ourselves, but God in His goodness did not forsake us, His promise stood and we saw His power. Why did I ever doubt, Lord I know you are forever with me leading the way. Yet the very next time God tells us to move, to take on a new assignment out of our comfort zone we find ourselves back at the same place. "Lord are You sure this is what you want me to do? Lord am I hearing You right? Please give me a sign this is truly what You want me to do. Lord You pick the wrong person, I can't do this,it's beyond me. finally, Lord I trust You I know You will give me the power and strength to do this, are You sure, me Lord?"
How fickle is our trust. How easy it is to say these words, even believe them in our heart yet when we are called to live this trust (to have confidence, be confident, to be bold, to be secure, sure)it becomes much harder to put this belief into practice even with all we know about Jesus. The world has taught us to be distrustful, to move with caution and adopting the world's view clouds our view of Christ. We doubt ourselves, we take our eyes off of the one who has always been there for us seeing us through every obstacle. God tells us in His word to trust Him with all our heart, acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight. This is our heart desire to walk as the Lord would have us, to follow the path He has set for us, yet we take each step toward that path with fear and doubts, forgetting to whom we belong. Jesus gave us the greatest assurance we would ever need when He went to the cross. He did this just for us, and had He done nothing else this is enough to give us confidence to go where ever He leads, if He died for us is there nothing else He would not do, so why do we live a fickle trust? Why do we not trust we are hearing Him correctly? Why do we not trust He will see us through every task? Why do we not trust He has prepared the way? Why do we not trust He knows better than us? Why? Why? Why when we have a great cloud of witnesses, why when we have Genesis to Revelation do we lack trust in the only One we should have no doubts, no fears, the only One whom has given us a great assurance do we still require more assurance, more witnesses, more proof? We are the light of the world, we are the witnesses to God promises, we are the proof, we are someones assurance God is who He says He is and God does what He says. We are in days which require us to show our trust in Jesus and we must do it without half stepping and we must do it boldly. We must begin to live our words, we must bring the written word to life, for His Life is in us. In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone.
John 1:1,4. God has chosen to work through us, let us be as true to our calling as Jesus was to His, without hestitation, when the Father said yes You must bear this cup it is the only way, He bored it for you and me. Let us proclaim to our world (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow believers, non believers) every time God calls us to trust Him, without out hesitation say yes Jesus I trust You therefore I am moving without doubts, questions, fears. I am standing on Your word, I am living Your word as a reflection of Christ, just as Christ reflected You for me.
Spend time thinking about how you trust God.
Do you only trust with some evidence?
Do you trust with your whole heart without doubts and fears?
Do you go through the same ritual of questions when God calls you to trust Him?
Is your trust a reflection of Christ?
But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me." Mark 5:36
Jesus shouted to the crowds, "If you trust me, you are really trusting God who sent me. John 12:44
"In the past you have encouraged many a troubled soul to trust in God; you have supported those who were weak. Job 4:3
