TT--The Power of Christ
The Gospels in Matthew 9:18-26, Mark 5:21-43, and Luke 8:41-55 shares the account of Jarius’s Daughter and the Woman with an issue of blood. Last night my devotional reading led me to pay attention to the sequence of these events and I came away with a deeper awareness of the power of our Savior. I was led to this deeper awareness by the Holy Spirit and author Beth Moore, “Jesus, 90 days with the One and Only.” Both Jarius and the Woman with the issue of blood teach us about real faith, unshakeable faith in Christ. Beth took me to the root of my faith. Jarius believed all Jesus had to do was lay His hands on his daughter and she would live again. The woman with the illness believed all she had to do was touch the hem of His robe and she would be healed. Amazing she didn’t even believe she had to touch His body at all, healing was available if she could just touch a piece o His outer garment. They both because of their faith were rewarded, Jarius daughter lived again and the woman was healed. But wait there is much more for you to gain. Jesus met Jarius first and as He was on His way to his house with a large crowd following and pressing against Him, the woman reached out and touch the hem of His garment and
Jesus felt healing power go from Him. Beth says, “The primary point I want to make is that Christ released enough power to heal a woman of a twelve- year hemorrhage, but still had plenty to raise Jarius’s daughter from the dead!” Beth requested we let this fact move from our head and sink into our heart. Let us now consider some who have encountered the power of Christ; the blind, the deaf, lepers, the demon possess, Lazarus, the Sinful woman, the disciples, Mary Magdalene, the Samaritan Woman and her town, and the 3 Hebrew boys. “Christ power supply is limitless, His power and mercy are infinite.” (Moore, Jesus, 90 days with the One and Only) The clincher to all of this was the writing assignment; make a list of your greatest needs currently. Once you have made the list, review it and say out loud “Jesus, You have enough power!” I know Jesus has more than enough power to meet my greatest needs (I had 11 things on my list). I can’t wait to see the power of Christ meet them all.
I give thanks today for Christ power supply which is limitless.
I give thanks for the ways God takes me deeper in Him awarding me a greater knowledge of Him.
I give thanks for devotionals which take me to another place in the Lord.
I give thanks for those writers who allow the Holy Spirit to use them to minister.
I give thanks for Jarius who saw and believed in the power of Christ.
I give thanks to the Woman with the issue of blood for showing me no matter how long I have had my issues Christ has the power to heal, all I have to do is reach and if all I can get to is the fringe of His power it will be enough.
I give thanks because at the same time Christ is meeting my needs He has the power to meet each and everyone of yours. What power. What a mighty God we serve. He is always more than enough.
More thankful thurdays
