My Hiding Place

For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Psalm 32:7

Reflection
Oh how David reflects my heart with his words in Psalm 32. For me this is a psalm of hope, it shows me what God has done and what He will do. There is strength in these words penned by David over 2000 years ago and like all of God’s words still bring joy today, still can be applied to my life today. How awesome is our God?

God gives me joy, all my rebellion forgiven, every sin put out of sight my record cleared, there is nothing for which I can be condemned. Before I learned to confess my sins my life was really in misery and I couldn’t see the real state of my soul, I didn’t understand its’ groaning. I wasn’t really happy but I didn’t recognize God’s discipline; His molding and making of me. My strength zapped I learned to call upon Him. I became educated and stop hiding myself and my mess from Him, becoming real before Him and He cleansed me with the precious blood of Christ leaving me guilt free. Even greater, God became my hiding place rather than a place from which I ran. He is my great protector in all my troubles. Speaking to my heart “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life”, the life He has purposed for me. I no longer have to compare myself to others for God will guide me, watch over me, and counsel me with His great wisdom. He has raised me from the sea of sorrows and surrounded me with His unfailing love because He Himself taught me to trust in Him and Him alone. My heart now desires to be pure because it knows the Lord’s word holds true. My soul knows it can always rest under the wings of the Lord. He carries me to songs of victory; I am triumphant for my soul can always hide in the Lord. He is my secret place.

Deeper Personal Reflection
Every one of us needs to pray; when all hell breaks loose and the dam bursts we'll be on high ground, untouched. Psalm 32:6 the Message
What are these words speaking to your heart? What does it mean to you to be prayed up? What are you feeling as you mediate on the truth you will not drown in the floodwaters of judgment?

Deeper Personal Study
Psalm 32

Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! 2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! 3 When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. 4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude 5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude 6 Therefore let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude 8 The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control." 10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD. 11 So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Prayer
Lord, my God, my strength, my hope it is all in You. Heavenly Father You are the One whom I run when life is more than I can understand or bare; You are my hiding place. You O Lord keep me under the shadow of Your wings, in You I trust, it is You I seek for in You I find comfort, peace, answers and direction. How majestic is Thy Name, how great is Thy love, and how awesome is Thy care. Lord I thank You. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen
