At His Feet-One Thing

There were two sisters Mary and Martha, Jesus visited with them often. On His first visit Martha was busy preparing food for Him and the other guest in the House. Mary was setting at Jesus feet listening to Him speak the word. Martha became upset because she was struggling trying to get the meal ready alone. She went to Jesus and asked Him to tell Mary to help her but Jesus didn’t respond as Martha had hoped He said “Martha you are worried and upset over all these details but there is only one thing necessary (worth being concerned about) Mary has discovered it, she has chosen the good part.” Jesus in essence was saying to Martha, Mary is doing the most important thing she is seeking the word, she is listening to me, she is gaining knowledge of me, the Father and kingdom living. Mary is taking the time needed to grow a relationship with me.  Taken from Luke 10:38-40 NLT

What are your thoughts?

Where do you see yourself in this scenario?

Are you choosing the most important thing on a daily bases or are you letting the cares and distractions of your life pulled you away from Jesus?

What one word or phrase is standing out or speaking to you the most?

How do we begin to get our priorities straight?

How do we begin to draw away from the world’s way of doing things and learn to do it God’s way?

How will setting at Jesus feet on a regular help you in getting to the place you want to be in life, in God?

God Speaks
It is the desire of my heart that you seek me daily.  I want you to spend time with me, getting to know me as you would any other person who is important to you.   I want you to know me with your whole heart.

Dig Deeper
Read Luke 10:38-42
John 1:1-4 In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make.  Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone.

Prayer
Father God, Blessed Savior help me today to keep focus on the most important one thing.  I desire to sit at your feet, to draw closer to You and to hear Thy word.  Let me not put the cares and distractions of my life before you.  Help me to remember You are my life, You are the Word and the Word gave life to everything that was created. You are the One who holds this life together.  In Jesus loving and caring name I pray. Amen

WFW- Glorify God

And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17

Do you long to hear the words this is my beloved daughter in whom I am welled pleased. Does the thought of hearing these words inspire you to live obediently to God? God was please with Christ because from the beginning of His ministry Jesus was in tuned to God. Jesus knew the purpose for which He was upon the earth. He never took His eyes off the goal. Jesus tells us His method for success was listens to the Father, and to do only those things He saw the Father do. Jesus was always about the Father’s business. We never see Jesus acting according to His own desires. He was always about glorifying God. His teachings lead us to give God glory. I believe to hear these words spoken to me I must be obedient to the Father, putting away my selfish desires and focusing on the will of God and living out that will. God spoke these words that those present would know Jesus was His Son and sent by Him. We must show the world we are daughters of The Most High God and like our big brother we must model His behavior and be obedient to His guidance. Reflecting God is part of our earthly assignment to show others we are His and sent by Him that He may be glorified. When we glorify God He glorifies us and claim us as His own by continually bestowing His goodness, grace and love upon us what better way for Him to say “this is my beloved daughter in whom I am well pleased.”
