Being Still

Extravagant Grace

This button was at Lisa's at extravangant grace for WFW and it just stayed with me.
Quietness is something I am seeking to do more of- Quietness to be in the Lord's presence- Quietness to hear clearly His voice. Quietness so it can sink in He is God and He is my God. Today I give thanks again for times of stillness/quietness- those special moments when I can get still and let God show me Himself, leaving me knowing He is God.

I pray still moments for you today.

Giving thanks for a Father whom many say I resemble-this is comforting because He now rest with God. Before joining the Heavenly Father he left me with a wonderful spiritual legacy- He was a godly man and I learned much from him, much of which He received from his own godly father- how blessed is my life for having been in the family of two such godly men. Even with this I give praise for the Father I wish to resemble even more my Heavenly Father, Creator and Sustainer. I pray others see the resemblance and when I fall short and they don't may they point this out to me.
Giving thanks for God, my Father who looks upon me with adoration and love.

I pray wonderful memories of a loving "Father" for you today.

He Sweet I Know-------Thankful Thursdays

Laurie gives thanks today for the sweetness of God’s word. I want to follow suit and give thanks for the sweetness of our Savior.

He's sweet I know
He's sweet I know
Dark clouds may rise
And strong winds may blow
But, I’ll tell the world
Wherever I may go
That I have found a Savior
And He's sweet I know

I can't forget
When I was sad
Head hanging down
And my soul feeling bad
But, all I could say
Was "Lord, take my heart"
You know, Jesus heard me praying
And He gave me a song

He's sweet I know
He's sweet I know
Dark clouds may rise
And strong winds may blow
But, I’ll tell the world
Wherever I may go
That I have found a Savior
And He's sweet I know

Sometimes I'm tried
By Satan's snares
And my burdens seem
So hard to bear
And I'm talked about, Lord
In whatever I do
But, I know a Savior
And He'll take me on through

He's sweet I know
He's sweet I know
Dark clouds may rise
And strong winds may blow
But, I’ll tell the world
Wherever I may go
That I have found a Savior
And He's sweet I know

The Pure Heart

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

The pure heart is void of worldly desires
The pure heart is free from evil desires
The pure heart does not hold on to wicked purposes
The pure heart does not worship idols
The pure heart does not tell lies
The pure heart does not cheat
The pure heart is filled with love which reflects God
The pure heart sees God by faith
The pure heart has a right relationship with God
The pure heart may seek God, and shall see Him, basking in His Holy Presence for all eternity.

Life Application
Ask God to empower you to live a pure life through the Holy Spirit. A life in which you show your understanding of His will and His way; daily reflecting patience with and for others; where kindness flow from you in word and deed and your expressions of love are clothe in truth.
We show we are servants of God by our pure lives, our understanding, patience, and kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, by our sincere love. 2Co 6:6 -

Make up your mind and seal it in your heart “I respect God” and because I respect God I commit to keeping all things from my body which makes it and my soul unclean. I will cast out every unholy thought, thing and person which leads me to unholy acts.
Dear friends, we have these promises from God, so we should make ourselves pure -- free from anything that makes body or soul unclean. We should try to become holy in the way we live, because we respect God. 2Co 7:1

Daily engage in prayer asking God to keep your heart, spirit, soul, body, your whole self in His perfect care belonging to Him alone; His treasured possession.
Now may God himself, the God of peace, make you pure, belonging only to Him. May your whole self -- spirit, soul, and body -- be kept safe and without fault when our Lord Jesus Christ comes. 1Th 5:23

Live Holy
He died so that he could give the church to himself like a bride in all her beauty. He died so that the church could be pure and without fault, with no evil or sin or any other wrong thing in it. Eph 5:27

Life Prayer
God, Most Holy create in me a clean and pure heart; a heart free of the stain of sin. Let me reflect the beauty of the church for which You are coming back to claim as Your own. Wash me of all impurities; making me faultless in mine, body, spirit and soul. Empower me O Lord by Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus Sweet Name I pray.

The Joy of My Salvation Thankful Thursday

The Joy of My Salvation
Last week I was have a moment with God and as I was praising God for being the joy of my salvation, I realize what these words really mean to me. The emotions which envelop me brought me to a place I have had the pleasure of experiencing several times in recent days; indescribable, not the moments but God. Sometimes the words we use to describe God are just not enough and this is the reason He is the joy of my salvation. My salvation is wonderful and I am very thankful for it; but now I realize it is God’s presence in my salvation, it is my relationship with Him, it is God showing up in my life at unexpected times, doing unexpected things. God is the
joy of my salvation because He cares for me beyond even my understanding, He loves me special. God has given me so much the greatest Jesus Christ who made my salvation possible. He open the door so I could be righteous in the eyes of God, Jesus made it possible for me to draw close to my Lord to move beyond the outer courts but into the holy of holies and there I find God’s glory. God Himself laid the path for me to know Him, experience Him, trust Him, love Him, and seek to dwell in Him all the days of my eternal life. He is the joy of my salvation because He is “Salvation”- Jesus-Jehovah is salvation.

Today I give thanks
For the wonderful indescribable joy of my salvation.
For the moments in which God speaks directly to my heart, revealing Himself to me.
For opportunities to share God with others who seek to know Him.
Because God has dressed me in clothing of salvation and I am as beautiful as a bride with her jewels.

Deeper Personal Study and Reflection

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:18

I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10

But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the LORD alone." Jonah 2:9

Enduring Hardships""--------wfw

Reflection
Christians often like the world hates the thought of suffering. We run from it, dreading to endure any un-pleasantries. On the surface we can’t find anything good in suffering or hardships. Where is the good in pain, anguish, distress, misery, agony, torment, and affliction in other words suffering and hardship? God is a God of love; He seeks to give us joy, pleasures evermore. So why does He instruct us to endure hardships as a good soldier? What are the benefits of suffering? Mature Christians have learned it is in our suffering and endurance God does some of His best and enduring work in us. It is in the hard times we seek God with a passion, we lean in close to Him, stretching beyond our limited capacity to be near Him. It is in suffering we come to realize God is God. It is in hardships, pain, misery, and anguish we come to know God is “I AM”. Like a good soldier in suffering I need to follow orders when they come from my Captain, the Lord. The good soldier understands she will be covered by the Lord, trusting His plans for her life will set her upon a path of righteousness. She knows God’s orders are for her better good.
A good soldier is always ready to be shipped out whatever the assignment. It does not matter what the work order entails, I have to put my fears behind me, pack my bags and report for duty. Like Sarah, she listens to the head, even if it takes her into godless territory. (Genesis 20:1-18)
A good soldier understands the word selflessness, meaning I am ready to put the needs of others before my own. She is very much aware she must keep the agenda of the kingdom uppermost, it is her center and she fully understands life is not about individual parts but the whole body.
Though she is bound by chains of distress, afflictions, torment and pain the good soldier continues to preach the Good News. She preaches to the nations-family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, associates and believers though I suffer I endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory. I will stand with the Lord until my suffering is turned to joy, my distress soothe, my afflictions removed, my troubles a distant memory. A good soldier endures until the battle is over, “if I perish I perish”. A good soldier is not like the raging waves tossing to and froth but is faithful until the end, showing forth her salvation by living faithfully knowing God is ever in control. A good soldier endures conscious her God is preparing her for greater smaller things, every good work.
A good soldier keeps her eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed - that exhilarating finish in and with God - he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. (Hebrews 12:2 MSG) We endure hardships because the reward is priceless, far outweighing every pain, anguish, distress, misery, agony, torment, and affliction, eternal life with God.

Deeper Personal Study
2 Timothy 2:2-14
Hebrews 12

Reflective Prayer
Lord, being a good soldier is not always easy. I know in my suffering You are growing me, teaching me, preparing me, I pray for your strength which will help me to endure. I recognize Christ suffered much more for me, help me to be like Christ keeping my eyes on the reward, He brought me salvation, help me to live out my salvation by standing and enduring, showing myself faithful like a good soldier of the cross. In Jesus enduring, everlasting Name I pray. Amen

My Soul Delights

Reflection
Life is full of drama, some scenes we authored and others were co-authored by the enemy of wickedness. Some scenes end in joy others in pain. As we passed through the painful ones we sometimes find our thoughts have become bitter, angry, and confused leaving us lost, lonely, beside ourselves with fear and doubts; “BUT” no matter the situation when we turn to the Great Comforter, our soul will take delight. In God we find hope, our doubts force us to turn back our mind to all God has done for us. How He took away the pain inflicted by the enemy. How He came through when everything surrounding us looked hopeless. How He raised us out of the muck and mire we sank our lives. We turn back the pages of our lives and witness once again how disappointments became the ink in which we wrote a new chapter filled with joy and hope for a new tomorrow. We ride back down roads filled with curves, bumps, holes, yield signs, detours and yes stop signs, nevertheless we made it through and the roads became straight and as we search how we overcame we see the strong hand of God is behind us, beside us and before us. We realize God surrounds us, we cannot leave His Presence. We feel His unfailing love poured out on us, His tender mercies bringing us from dark places to set us in His marvelous light filling us with His surpassing peace. How wonderful is our God, what lengths He goes to bring us to a spacious place because He delights in us, delivering us from our distresses, never giving us over to the enemy. (2 Samuel 22:20, Psalm 18:9, Psalm 31:8 paraphrased) How can our soul not take flight in joyful delight, our God is the author of joy, delighting in showing His mercy. Micah 7:18

Going Deeper in Personal Reflection
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. Micah 7:18

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. 2Samuel 22:20 -

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. Psalm 18:19 -

You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. Psalm 31:8 -

Heart Words
Lord my God! God who takes delight in me and brings me from a trouble mind to one of hope, joy, and peace. Father my heart sings because you find reason to sing over me. You take care of all my troubles and You always bring me to the Rock that is higher than I. You O Lord are the wings in which I hide; You are my dwelling place for evermore. Thank You Lord, in Jesus great and merciful Name I pray.

Righteous God----------Thankful Thursdays

I give thanks for people who challenges me with the word of God, taking me to the place where I eagerly go to God’s word searching and seeking that I might know Him better, seeing the true God of heaven and earth, not the God created in the mind of man.

I give thanks because God answers me when I call to Him.

I give thanks because God delivers me from my distresses, showering me in sweet relief.

I give thanks because God is merciful to me, I have not received my just punishment Jesus decided He was much better able to handle it for me though He did nothing to deserve it and I did nothing to earn it.

I give thanks because God hears my cries, anxieties, petitions, and requests. He closely listens to me, and responds. I give thanks for God open the way for me to communicate with Him, prayer through Christ Jesus.

I give thanks because God is Wisdom and He generously give it when we ask.
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 This is my favorite verse on wisdom.

T give thanks because God is a "Righteous God"
I give thanks because God is a "God of Wonder"
I give thanks because God is a "God of Compassion"
I give thanks because God is a "Faithful God"
I give thanks because God is a "Banner" over me.
I give thanks because God is my "Bread".

I give thanks because God is “So Much God”.

Trusting God----------------------------WFW

Trusting in the Lord pays big dividends. Proverbs 3 teaches us about just a few.

Desire: A long and satisfying life.
God’s Instructions: My child, never forget the things I have taught you and store my commands in your heart,

Desire: Finding favor with both God and people, gaining a good reputation.
God’s Instructions: Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace; write them deep within your heart.

Desire: To have God direct my paths.
God’s Instructions: Trust in Me the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Acknowledge Me the Lord and seek My will in all you do.

Desire: To gain renewed health and vitality.
God’s Instructions: Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear Me the LORD and turn your back on evil.

Desire: To have my barns fill with grain, and vats overflowing with the finest wine.
God’s Instructions: Honor Me the LORD with your wealth; give Me the first and the best.

God promises if we trust in Him with all our heart, letting go of our limited understanding of how things really work and allow Him to do His will which is always best and fill with knowledge, in our lives we will receive our heart desire. Continuing to set our course without consulting God, seeking His wisdom is unwise and will lead to heartache, pain, confusion and many other such sorrows. Why not take the path which leads to joy and success?

Going Deeper with Daily Acts of Faith
Turn to God for every decision.

It's impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Reflect throughout the day about your decisions; ask God if they were pleasing to Him.

Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your principles! Psalm 119:5

Utilize the word of God for daily, moment by moment inspiration.

Instead you thrill to God's Word; you chew on Scripture day and night. Psalm 1:2

Search your heart; keep it filled with things which flow from the Father.

Above all else, guard your heart, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23

Trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in the right way.

Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God's action in them find that God's Spirit is in them - living and breathing God! Romans 8:5 Message

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. Romans 8:5 NLT

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your
paths.

What A Wonder ---------------------------- WFW

1 "My heart pounds as I think of this. It leaps within me. 2 Listen carefully to the thunder of God's voice as it rolls from his mouth. 3 It rolls across the heavens, and his lightning flashes out in every direction. 4 Then comes the roaring of the thunder – the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain the thunder when he speaks. 5 God's voice is glorious in the thunder. We cannot comprehend the greatness of his power.

6 "He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down. 7 Everyone stops working at such a time so they can recognize his power. 8 The wild animals hide in the rocks or in their dens. 9 The stormy wind comes from its chamber, and the driving winds bring the cold. 10 God's breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water. 11 He loads the clouds with moisture, and they flash with his lightning. 12 The clouds turn around and around under his direction. They do whatever he commands throughout the earth. 13 He causes things to happen on earth, either as a punishment or as a sign of his unfailing love.

14 "Listen, Job; stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!
15 Do you know how God controls the storm and causes the lightning to flash forth from his clouds? 16 Do you understand how he balances the clouds with wonderful perfection and skill? 17 When you are sweltering in your clothes and the south wind dies down and everything is still, 18 he makes the skies reflect the heat like a giant mirror. Can you do that? 19 "You think you know so much, so teach the rest of us what to say to God. We are too ignorant to make our own arguments. 20 Should God be told that I want to speak? Can we speak when we are confused?

21 We cannot look at the sun, for it shines brightly in the sky when the wind clears away the clouds. 22 Golden splendor comes from the mountain of God. He is clothed in dazzling splendor. 23 We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty, yet he is so just and merciful that he does not oppress us. 24 No wonder people everywhere fear him. People who are truly wise show him reverence." Job 37

Prayer
Lord God, O what a wonder You are. Creator and sustainer of all. Your power is mighty and Your ways beyond comprehension. I give glory and praise becasue You are my God, chosen to be Your special treasure. Lord I love You, I magnify Your holy name, I give reverence to You O lord for You are the One and Only, Holy and True God. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

Thankful Thursdays- Just Thanks

So often God’s blessings are taken for granted, His pour out goodness on us daily is time and again overlooked. We lose focus of the important thing; we do not keep it the important thing as we move through our everyday activities. Today I pause my God to gives thanks for food, clothing, shelter, employment, water, lights, health, a car, a child not going to bed hungry, not wandering where the money will come from to pay a bill, groceries stores, restaurants, supportive family and friends, a place of worship, freedom, choices, the rising of the sun, the beauty of the moon shining forth to light my way, flowers surrounding my home to remind me of Your glory, green grass, refreshing rain, flowing rivers, the whispering of the wind, laughter, medication, doctors, teachers, spiritual guides, Your word and truth which brings hope, comfort, peace, joy, all Your creation.

Father daily I want to remember Your great blessings. Let me remember You are not just there in the problems, worries, and tribulations, You are always there, always blessing. I love and adore You. Thank You for loving and adoring me. Let me not forget those less fortunate and help me to bring You glory by bringing You to those in need. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

My Hiding Place

For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Psalm 32:7

Reflection
Oh how David reflects my heart with his words in Psalm 32. For me this is a psalm of hope, it shows me what God has done and what He will do. There is strength in these words penned by David over 2000 years ago and like all of God’s words still bring joy today, still can be applied to my life today. How awesome is our God?

God gives me joy, all my rebellion forgiven, every sin put out of sight my record cleared, there is nothing for which I can be condemned. Before I learned to confess my sins my life was really in misery and I couldn’t see the real state of my soul, I didn’t understand its’ groaning. I wasn’t really happy but I didn’t recognize God’s discipline; His molding and making of me. My strength zapped I learned to call upon Him. I became educated and stop hiding myself and my mess from Him, becoming real before Him and He cleansed me with the precious blood of Christ leaving me guilt free. Even greater, God became my hiding place rather than a place from which I ran. He is my great protector in all my troubles. Speaking to my heart “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life”, the life He has purposed for me. I no longer have to compare myself to others for God will guide me, watch over me, and counsel me with His great wisdom. He has raised me from the sea of sorrows and surrounded me with His unfailing love because He Himself taught me to trust in Him and Him alone. My heart now desires to be pure because it knows the Lord’s word holds true. My soul knows it can always rest under the wings of the Lord. He carries me to songs of victory; I am triumphant for my soul can always hide in the Lord. He is my secret place.

Deeper Personal Reflection
Every one of us needs to pray; when all hell breaks loose and the dam bursts we'll be on high ground, untouched. Psalm 32:6 the Message
What are these words speaking to your heart? What does it mean to you to be prayed up? What are you feeling as you mediate on the truth you will not drown in the floodwaters of judgment?

Deeper Personal Study
Psalm 32

Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! 2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! 3 When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. 4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude 5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude 6 Therefore let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude 8 The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control." 10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD. 11 So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Prayer
Lord, my God, my strength, my hope it is all in You. Heavenly Father You are the One whom I run when life is more than I can understand or bare; You are my hiding place. You O Lord keep me under the shadow of Your wings, in You I trust, it is You I seek for in You I find comfort, peace, answers and direction. How majestic is Thy Name, how great is Thy love, and how awesome is Thy care. Lord I thank You. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

Kiss of Love ------ WFW

Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen 1 Peter 5:14

Reflection
These instructions from our God I believe goes much deeper than they appear on the surface. We are to greet one another in love, with a true kiss of love. The challenge for me is to define my kiss of love in ways which are visible and meaningful to the kingdom of God. Many thoughts invade my mind about ways to show God's love in the earth, but honestly many of them stay there, in my mine. This I believe is not the intention of our heavenly Father. He places desires in my heart and it is up to me to take steps to bring those thoughts to fruition. Viewing this wonderful picture and this powerful scripture causes me to stop and consider how I have handled this guidance from God. I must say I have fallen short. So today I begin to challenge myself to stop skimming the surface of God's instructions and to begin to dig deep and seek ways to greet others with a kiss of love which speaks highly of the God I confess to serve.

Prayer
Father God, Holy and Righteous God I ask that you will continually put Your instructions in my mind and write them in my heart. When I miss the opportunity to follow your instruction, please do not give up on me, do not cease giving me thy words. Though my thoughts can never be as high as Yours, please mold them until they reach a level pleasing to You. Father I want to share in the joy of giving, remembering faithful service is an offering unto Thee. Let me be faithful in showing love which is true and brings You glory. Father help me to move beyond praying for those in need, help me to make my prayer a real, touchable, visible kiss. Help me to see the needs of my Christian brothers and sisters but Lord I want to move beyond the comforts of the Church to the need of Your world that Your Kingdom will truly be a part of the earth. In Jesus Name and by His power I pray. Amen

Beloved Son

And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying This is my BELOVED SON in whom I am well please. Matthew 3:17

Can you hear the voice of God today, I can. Imagine how pleased God was with Jesus our Savior following His work on the Cross.

Let us keep Resurrection Day in our hearts today and in the days to come. Let it not just be another holiday and now we move on to the next one. Let us say how pleased we are with God's BELOVED SON by living as He commanded, loving one another, and keeping His life before the world, that all will share in this glorious resurrection we have been blessed to be partakers.

God would have none perish.

Thankful Thursday-He Lives

Luke 24:1-8
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'" Then they remembered his words.

Today I give thanks because He is life.
"I am the Bread of Life" John 6:35

Today I give thanks because He defeated death.
Eight days after His death He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. John 20:27

Today I give thanks for with the same power God raise Christ from death, He shall raise me.
"Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as He was. Romans 6:5

Today I give thanks because Christ gives eternal life. "for you have given Him authority over everyone.
"He gives eternal life to each one you have given Him." John 17:2

Today I give thanks because the tomb was empty.
"Then some women from our group of his followers were at His tomb early this morning, and they came back with an amazing report. they said His body was missing, and they had seen angels who tol them Jesus is alive. Some of our men ran out to see, and sure enough, His body was gone, just as the women had said." Luke 24:22-24

Today I give thanks because death couldn’t hold Him down.
He has risen, He lives and because He lives I live, Thank You Jesus, Lord and Savior.
