Quench My Thirst

Come to the Well
O God, you are my God: I earnestly search for You.  My soul thirst for You, my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.  I have seen you in Your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You!  I will praise You as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer.  You satisfy me more than the richest feast.  I will praise You with songs of joy.  I lie awake thinking of You meditating on You through the night.  Because You are my helper,  I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.  I cling to You; Your strong right hand holds me securely.    Psalm 63:1-8

God Speaks
Seek me with your whole heart, all your soul, all your strength. Come after me with everything in You, I can be found, I am available for you.  Come after me with all I have placed in you.  You are longing, thirsty , parched and dry but if You come to me in love, sincerely and with a heart ready for obedience "I will give you abundant water to quench your thirst and to moisten your parched fields." Isaiah 44:3a ' For I am the Lord who provides water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."  Isaiah 43:20  I am the fountain of living water and I give generously.  You, I have made a dwelling place for my Spirit, my power and glory you have known.

A woman, thirsty, dry, broken, lonely, surrounded by poor decisions, shunned by other women, used by men, in need of water made her way to a well.  She went with no expectations, seeking to satisfy the physical.  My imagination having experienced brokenness, bad choices and thirst, sees her in prayer sharing with God all her fears, bad choices, drained emotions and hope for something better.  She knew He would come, for He was a hearing God, a prayer answering God.  Yes she being from Samaria had some idols in her life, she had even from time to time served some false gods, but she knew none of them heard her, saw her, knew her truth. She hadn't lifted her hands in praise, she hadn't meditated upon them in the night watch. She was waiting for the Messiah, He would come.  We know He will come, it may not be as we imagine or expect but we know He is coming, we cling to this His strong right hand it holds us securely.  She saw a man, a Jew and He speaks "give me a drink", unbelievable He speaks to me, He ask me, a Samaritan, an outcast, a broken woman,  a woman of shame, and guilt for a drink. What does Jesus speak to you woman of God, woman searching, woman who wants to believe but continuously allow doubt to overwhelm your belief, woman of confusion, woman of envy, woman of shame, lonely woman, depressed woman, lost woman, tired and weary woman, faithless woman, proud woman, serving woman, abiding woman, courageous woman, thirsty woman?  "Give me your life?"  "I am a sinner my life is so messed up, I have acted ungodly, I've walk in disobedience, my thoughts are sometimes unrighteous, I act selfishly, my heart has held envy, jealousy, gossip, how can You use it"? "There is nothing about you I don't know.  I've seen your choices, witness your ungodliness, I've felt your rejection of my word, and my way."    Still "I AM" Healer, Deliverer, the Source of Life,  the Truth, the Resurrection, all power belongs to Me. I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End."  Won't you drink of Me?  Quench your thirst, draw deep and find help for your soul.  Drink of me and you will have a hiding place in the shadow of my wings. My well will never run dry it flows into everlasting life.

I Speak to God
Lord God, the great I AM, my everything, all is in You the fountain of living water, who gives generously of Thy Spirit to all who asks.  You have made me a dwelling place for Your Holy Spirit that I may receive guidance for my life, strength in times of trouble, my Helper in the midst of every storm. My soul thirst for You, my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.  I have seen you Lord in Your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.  I have found Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You!  I will praise You Lord my God as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer.  You satisfy me more than the richest feast. In You I have found contentment, hope, power, righteousness, godliness, belief and I will praise You with songs of joy.  In the night I lie awake thinking of You meditating on Your goodness and kindness.  Because You are my strength, deliverer and sustainer I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.  I cling to You; Your strong right hand holds me securely and I know You won't let me go, I will not fall in You. Oh Lord guide me to the well where daily I drink of you, help me to draw deeper and deeper every day, quench my thirst O God for in You I find rest, peace, hope, faith, the power to be a Woman of God. In Jesus Matchless, Holy Name I pray.

Draw Deeper

I---yes, I alone--will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.  Isaiah 43:25 NLT

Life Resurrected

He has risen and the same power which raised Him raises me.  Because He lives I have life.  Eternal Life, abundant life, glorious life in the Lord.  It is up to me to embrace this life Oh that I would be like Christ.  He had a choice and He chose to be obedient to the Father.  He chose to embrace the Father and abide in Him, the result He was given the highest honor and now set at the right Hand of God. I too have a choice, a choice to use the power within through the Holy Spirit.  The choice to obey, to surrender, allowing the dead places in me to be resurrected, that I may live, be whole.  I have learned God really shines in the my broken places.  When I allow Him to repair, mend those places I rather keep buried I become what He created me to be.  I begin to reflect His image, rivers of water begin to flow from me.  I can give through His love for I see with His eyes, I can give from a heart filled with His compasson because I have felt His heart poured in me.  When I trust in the power of the resurrection I can live life with renewed hope, and with faith in a God who is not only able to do all things, but He does it exceedingly and abundantly above what my finite mind can ask.

Prayer
Lord God who is most holy I praise Your name for  resurrection power.  I praise Your name O God for giving me a Savior, renewing my hope and strengthen my faith.  In You O Lord alone I trust.  You Lord have repaired the broken places in me, You continually grow me and I know the good work You have started in me You will bring to completion.  Daily work in me O Lord until I reflect You in all my ways. In Jesus matchless ans loving name I pray.  Amen

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground.  then the men asked, "Why are you looking  among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn't here! He is risen from the dead! Luke 24:6-7 NLT
Either way Christ's love controls us.  Since we believe Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.  He died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live for themselves.  Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.  2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NLT

Power Word of the Day

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:3-5

Reflection

1-Have you reached a place in your relationship with God where you can rejoice in your suffering? Or are you still not able to look past your moment of suffering to the One who can handle your situation?
2- Can you look back over your moments of suffering and see how God help you persevere?
3- Does your character reflect that of Christ? What helps to change your character and make it more Christ-like?
4- Our suffering has lead to our developing the ability to press on in times of trouble. Christ pressed on to the Cross, He saw beyond His suffering to a greater hope, our reconciliation to our Creator. Are you seeing the hope we have in Christ?
5- Why are you not disappointed in your hope? What has God done to seal your hope?

God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom He has given to us, to help us in our suffering and because we have the Holy Spirit we can rejoice because we know we are being helped to develop our character until we reflect Christ in all circumstances, knowing our hope is greater than our suffering.

The Master

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2

You rise from your bed shielded by the covering of darkness, so very tired, your pillows drenched from the flood of tears. You continue to go over and over in your mind how did I get to this place, my life yet again shipwreck. This storm takes you to the middle of the sea, the winds and the waves are raging all about you. Your strength is dwindling and your hope has run deep into the crevices of your soul, so far down you cannot reach it. You scream for it but it refuses to rise; only despair answers, and somehow doubt and fear reach the surface without difficulty. You search for a ray of light but it only shows in streaks of lightening followed by raging thunders and darkness. Engulfed in darkness you cry out to God, please don’t forsake me. You seek a measure of comfort but she has hidden herself taking refuge at the bottom of the sea. You turn to your closest confidents they give you their very best but in the end you find only a momentary peace. Glory! You discover all God needs is a moment for in that moment of peace, you hear a soft still voice whispering “peace be still”. In your stillness hope begins to rise from the depths of your soul and she brings with her a measure of faith and you begin to pour out your soul to God, “Abba Father, I need your grace and mercy. My heart is in distress, my soul in trouble, be my strength and my refuge. Move me from this place of despair and fix my troubles. This battle I cannot fight but Lord you can, to you I surrender, into your hands I commit my spirit, my life, my all.” From His holy temple He hears your voice; He hears your distress call and He brings you out of your troubles. (Psalm 18:6) He stills the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea are hushed and He guides you to your desired haven. (Reference Psalm 107:23-30) He softly speaks to your heart, my daughter when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze; for I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. (Isaiah 43: 2-3) Your heart speak back “have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” (Psalm 57:1) Leaving His Holy Presence you know this storm will pass; you put your hope and faith in Jesus and your soul finds rest clinging to the Master of the Seas.

Daughter of Zion, there is no situation God can’t handle or fix. Cast your cares upon Him. Know every storm is for a purpose and though it may be painful and unpleasant you do not walk alone you will not drown the winds and the waves will not take you out. Rest assured the fire will only refine you bringing you out as pure gold. Your Savior, the Holy One, God of Israel controls the waters and the fire.
